On 15 May, the European Forest Institute in collaboration with the European Network Integrate presented the findings of the Białowieża Science Initiative, followed by a public panel discussion on forest conservation and management in protected areas in Europe.
The Białowieża Science Initiative has gathered more than 20 renowed scientists representing different disciplines and viewpoints to collect the available scientific evidence on the current and future situation of the Białowieża Forest in Poland, and to draw conclusions for other forests in Europe facing similar challenges.
This official EU Green Week Side Event was held in Brussels, Rue Montoyer 47 (Permanent Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union) on 15 May from 18:30 until 21:30.
Information on the second presentation of the findings of BSI in Warsaw (25th Nov. 2019) can be found here.
